Brays Video Collection – English Phrasal Verbs, Blow up
Script (guión): Phrasal verbs, ‘blow up’ which has two meanings.
Meaning 1: to destroy something by explosion. I had a friend when I was a teenager who was obsessed with blowing things up. He once took a water melon and placed it in his back garden to blow up. He filled it full of gun powder but when it exploded the force broke all the kitchen windows, so his mum wasn't too happy.
Meaning 2: to fill with air or to inflate - there was a guy at the same university as me who one day received an inflatable friend through the post, which he blew up and started taking everywhere with him, quite strange. He even brought it to the pub quiz on a Wednesday, and apparently she got a few questions right.
