Brays Video Collection – English Phrasal Verbs, Break out
Script (guión): Phrasal verbs, ‘break out’ which means to start, usually when something starts very suddenly. We use this normally to refer to things which are unpleasant such as wars, epidemics or fires.
When World War 2 broke out in 1939 my granddad pretended to be crazy so he wouldn't have to fight. He had an interview where they were going to test his sanity. So for the interview he wore a suit purely made out of orange peel. He stuffed bananas inside his cheeks so he looked like a hamster and he sellotaped pineapple rings to the palms of his hands. It worked, he didn't have to go.
