Brays Video Collection – English Phrasal Verbs, Burn down
Script (guión): Phrasal verbs, ‘burn down’ which means to destroy something by burning. Normally we use this one referring to a building of some sort.
Last summer I had a barbeque in my back garden ad I bought some special fluid to squirt onto the barbeque to get it cooking really nicely. Anyway, I was squeezing the bottle really hard and it was squirting out the end but all of a sudden the cap came off and half the bottle landed on the coal and a massive flame shot up into the air, set fire to the tree which went over the fence into my neighbour's garden and set fire to his shed. Anyway, I couldn't get round quick enough and I'm afraid I burned down his shed and had to buy him a new one, which wasn't cheap.
