Script (guión): Phrasal verbs: ‘Call for’, which has five main meanings.
Meaning 1: To demand. In politics if a scandal appears in the newspapers regarding one of the politicians, then the opposition party may call for his resignation.
Meaning 2: To go to collect something. The milk man called for his money this morning but I didn't have enough cash in the house so he's going to come back tomorrow.
Meaning 3: To telephone for something. On Friday evenings I'm normally too tired to cook so I normally call for a pizza delivery.
Meaning 4: To go and collect somebody and take them out. For example, to arrange to go for a drink with a friend. I may say ‘I'll call for you at 7 and we'll walk to the pub together’.
Meaning 5: To require. For example, if there is a serious earthquake or natural disaster the President may say that this situation calls for a fast response from all emergency services.
