Script (guión): Phrasal verbs, ‘put on’. This has three meanings.
Meaning 1: To get fatter. A wife may ask her husband after the Christmas period, ‘Do you think I've put on weight?’ To which the husband may reply, ‘No. but I certainly have, I ate far too much.’
Meaning 2: To deceive or lie. If a child is pretending to be ill so he doesn't have to go to school we may say that he's putting it on, there's nothing wrong with him.
Meaning 3: to start wearing. If I'm about to leave the house I always put my shoes on before going outside.
