Brays Video Collection – English Phrasal Verbs, Try on
Script (guión): Phrasal verbs, ‘try on’, which has two meanings.
Meaning one is to put on an item of clothing to see if it fits and how it looks. I tried on so many pairs of shoes this morning but none of them seemed to fit or feel comfortable. I guess I'm just not used to wearing high-heels.
Meaning two is to try and deceive someone. The man in the pizza takeaway shop tried it on with me last Saturday when he only gave me change from a £10 note but I'd in fact given him a £20. I don't think it was a mistake!
