I'm not sure of the origins of this idiom, I know that cucumbers are often stored in the fridge and I've never seen one wearing sun glasses. Anyway there is a guy at my work called Tim, he's as cool as a cucumber. Anything goes wrong he just smiles and says, ‘Whatever.’
